The University of Macau Library currently offers Turnitin to UM teaching staff and students for similarity detection.
- Post-graduate students may apply Turnitin Similarity checking for PG students to use Turnitin for self-checking in UMMoodle. To request access, please make self-enrolment by referring to the followings:

- Under-graduate Students, who use the similarity detection tool for class needs, are suggested to seek assistance from their class teachers /instructors.
- For those who have special needs to use the similarity detection tool, please send an email from your UM email account with the subject "Request of Turnitin" and include your full name, student ID number and reasons, to lib_ref@um.edu.mo. All requests will be considered case by case.
For Teaching Staff:
- Teaching staff are encouraged using the assignment with Turntin on UMMoodle to check their students’ papers.
- If there was no suitable class on UMMoodle for special checking with Turnitin, teaching staff may drop a line to ICTO for requesting a special one.
- If needed, teaching staff can grant access to their Teaching Assistants (TAs) on UMMoodle to assist with similarity checking.
- Teaching staff may also request a standalone Turnitin account (not through UMMoodle) by emailing to lib_ref@um.edu.mo and thereby enabling the direct use of Turnitin at its webpage in an effort for checking their own papers, including the proposal of MYRG.

Turnitin Similarity Checking for PG Students is a class platform provided for current postgraduate students of the University of Macau (users) to use on UMMoodle. Each academic year, users may submit up to five manuscripts for self-checking with Turnitin. Please read the following information before applying for registration.
Terms and Conditions of Use
By applying to register for Turnitin Similarity Checking for PG Students, users are deemed to have unconditionally accepted and agreed to abide by the terms and conditions below.
This service is currently available only to enrolled postgraduate students.
Each user is limited to submitting a total of five documents for checking under this service. Once the quota is used, no further submissions are allowed.
Documents that have already been submitted for checking cannot be overwritten and rechecked.
Submitted documents will not be retained by this service; therefore, the results will not affect users’ subsequent checks with Turnitin through other channels.
The implementation of this service does not interfere with existing Turnitin checking procedures.
The service is provided on an academic-year basis. After the end of the academic year, users may apply again if needed. Please refer to the Library’s announcements for each academic year.
The service provider does not assume responsibility for document storage. Before the end of each academic year, users must download and save their submitted manuscripts and similarity reports.
Users may only use the Turnitin checking service of Turnitin Similarity Checking for PG Students for academic research or university-related purposes at the University of Macau. Any commercial use is strictly prohibited. In case of violation, the University of Macau reserves the right to suspend the user’s access.
After a user withdraws, graduates, or leaves the University of Macau for any other reason, the University reserves the right to disable the user’s access to the Turnitin Similarity Checking for PG Students service and to delete the related documents. The user is responsible for backing up any necessary documents before leaving the university.
This service will be reviewed at the end of each academic year, and adjustments may be made based on usage needs and available resources.
The University of Macau Library reserves the right to revise these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
