UM Library Team Visits Honours College to Strengthen Service Alignment and Collaboration (2026-03-17)
On the afternoon of 12 March 2026, Prof. Helen Xu, University Librarian of the University of Macau, led a delegation from the library’s management team to visit the Honours College (HC). The delegation met with HC Dean, Prof. Rose Lai, to gain a deeper understanding of the College’s needs in areas such as resource development and library services, with the aim of further enhancing the library’s support for teaching and learning.
During the meeting, Prof. Lai provided an overview of the development of the Honours College, its curriculum structure, and its network of overseas study partners. She also expressed her gratitude for the library’s continued support in offering tailored workshops, such as those supporting the College’s student project on Social Awareness, which help students strengthen their academic research capabilities.
Prof. Xu thanked Prof. Lai for the warm reception and introduced the library’s latest developments, including library resources, user services, and outreach activities, such as the AI Literacy Workshops Series, Reading Master Challenge, and book clubs. She emphasized the library’s commitment to providing diversified learning support for students.
Both parties engaged in in depth discussions on strengthening future collaboration, enhancing service alignment, and supporting student development, and explored several concrete and feasible directions for cooperation.
The attendees included Pamela Lam, the Secretary to the Dean of HC, and Eunice Cheang, and Assistant University Librarian Billy Leung, Library Functional Head Priscilla Pun, and Henry Yang.
Prof. Xu has conducted visits to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Education, and has led the library team to visit several faculties and residential colleges, including the Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences, Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, Moon Chun Memorial College, Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College, and so on. These visits aim to support systematic exchanges on collection development, academic support services, and research data services, thereby aligning the library’s initiatives more closely with the needs of academic units and further strengthening its role in supporting university teaching, learning, and research development.
