UM Collaborates with Innovation Press to Support Open Access Publishing for UM Authors (2026-02-24)
The University of Macau (UM) Library is pleased to announce the latest collaboration between UM and Innovation Press to support UM authors in publishing their research articles in open access at a special rate.
This new partnership adds to the series of UM Open Access Publishing, which supports eligible UM authors in publishing their journal articles open access with a number of major academic publishers. Since 2016, UM has signed an agreement with Springer Nature to support the UM authors to publish their articles at a discounted rate. In 2023, UM began to sign an agreement with Cambridge University Press (CUP) to provide unlimited open access publishing support of journal articles for UM authors. Additional open access publishing agreements with John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (Wiley), the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), the American Chemical Society (ACS), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and IOP Publishing (IOP) have come into effect afterwards, in 2024.
Under these agreements:
- CUP, ACM, and IOP offer unlimited open access publishing support for journal articles for eligible UM authors.
- Wiley, RSC, and ACS provide limited quotas for open access journal articles, available on a first come, first served basis.
- Springer Nature and Innovation Press offer special rates in Articles Processing Charges (APCs) to eligible UM authors.
By participating in and expanding these agreements, UM has enabled its researchers to save approximately MOP 7.6 million in APCs in total, throughout 2024 and 2025.
