Delegation of Council on East Asian Libraries Visited University of Macau Library (2025-07-18)

On the morning of July 18, 2025, a delegation of about 20 library experts from Council on East Asian Libraries visited the University of Macau Library. The delegation was led by Chen Su, current President of the Council on East Asian Libraries, Head of Richard C. Rudolph East Asian Library, University of California at Los Angeles, and comprised representatives from renowned university libraries from North America and Mainland China, including the libraries of Harvard University, Princeton University, the University of Chicago, UCLA, UC Berkeley, the University of Toronto, and New York University Shanghai. They were warmly received by Helen Xu, University Librarian of the University of Macau Library, along with Associate University Librarian Raymond Wong, Assistant University Librarian Billy Leung, and the Functional Heads Priscilla Pun, Stephen Lei, Wilson Hoi, Henry Yang and University Librarian's Secretary Winnie Leung.

 

The delegation engaged in an in-depth discussion with library staff from the University of Macau. The meeting focused on a range of topics including resource and knowledge sharing, the development of core competencies for library professionals, innovation and best practices in university library services. Participants explored how to support and ensure the continued growth and success of Sino-American academic cooperation in a rapidly changing global landscape. Following the sharing session. The librarians visited the University Gallery, the Library, the Archives, and two ongoing exhibitions at the Museum of Art , “Regarding Books” and “Winds of Confluence: The Story of Macao in the Historical Archives of the Ming and Qing Dynasty”.
