Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Evaluation Studies Institute Visits the University of Macau Library (2026-09-22)
A
delegation of four members led by Ms. Yu Qian, Deputy Director of the Journal
and Research Output Evaluation Office of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
Evaluation Studies Institute, visited the University of Macau (UM) Library on
the morning of 20 September 2026. The delegation was warmly received by Billy
Leung, Assistant University Librarian, Priscilla Pun, Acting Assistant
University Librarian, and Wilson Hoi, Functional Head.
During
the visit, the guests toured the UM Library, the Macau Corner, the Rare Book Collection,
and the UM Gallery. Both parties exchanged views on the evaluation of academic
journals in the Macao region. They explored approaches to promoting an academic
community-based evaluation model that combines qualitative and quantitative
assessment methods with category-based evaluation.
Mr. Leung
and Ms. Pun extended a warm welcome to the delegation, introduced the UM
Library and it’s collection development, special collections and UM Scholar
Page. Ms. Yu highly commended the achievements of the UM Library, particularly
its advanced experience in collecting the periodicals from Macau and developing
the Macao Periodical Index and the Hong Kong and Macao periodicals network.
Ms. Yu also introduced the guiding principles and practices of journal
evaluation. The two sides engaged in fruitful discussions on future
collaboration, academic exchanges, and the sharing of expertise in journal
evaluation, with the common goal of contributing to the continuous improvement
of journal evaluation systems.
Other
members of the visiting delegation included Ms. Wang Yajing, Associate Research
Fellow of the Journal and Research Output Evaluation Office, Mr. Hao Ruoyang,
Director of the Evaluation Data Research Office, and Dr. Xiao Yue, Researcher
of the Evaluation Data Research Office, all from the Chinese Academy of Social
Sciences Evaluation Studies Institute.
