ABOUT ARCHIVES

        Since the relevant Executive Order and Dispatch of the Special Administrative Region Government on the handling of government archives came into effect in August 2020, the University of Macau has initiated the collection and organization of archives at a university-wide level. By the end of May 2021, a total of more than 12,000 entries of archive documents from seven administrative departments had been collected and were compiled into a database.
        To better manage the university's archival documents, the university decided to set up an archives. The archives is located at the south wing of the library, with two floors and has a total area of 800 square meters. The first floor is a multifunctional floor, with compact shelving area, special archives room, reading area, disinfection area, reception area and work area for file organization. Among them, the compact shelving area is equipped with two groups of compact shelves, in a total of 24 rows, with 8 shelves in each row, counting a total of 192 shelves. This can accommodate more than 15,000 Acid-free boxes for archives. There are two special archives room and six reading booths. The second floor is a special warehouse.
        In accordance with various relevant regulations and requirements, the entire archives will implement various measures to ensure constant temperature, constant humidity, security, and disaster prevention.
