Guidelines for Interlibrary Loan / Document Delivery Service

Interlibrary Loan

• Eligibility

  UM post-graduates, UM faculty members, administrativeand research staff only.

  As for the undergraduates and the staff members with those IDs (say 500xxxx, 6xxxx and so on), kindly send us an email to lib_ref@um.edu.mo for acquiring the account access to Interlibrary Loan Request System.

• How to apply?

  Eligible user may

  • Get direct access to Interlibrary Loan Request System, or
  • Send us the InterLibrary Loan or DDS Request Form by your UM email account, or
  • Fill in the form at our reference desk.

  Types of materials can be requested via ILL, for example:

  • Photocopy
  • Book
  • Book Chapter
  • Conference Paper

  Types of materials cannot be requested via ILL, for example:

  • Get direct access to Interlibrary Loan Request System, or
  • Send us the InterLibrary Loan or DDS Request Form by your UM email account, or
  • Fill in the form at our reference desk.

  * RapidILL is an international interlibrary loan service developed at the Colorado State University Libraries in USA. It provides article delivery service from the journal collections come from nearly 80 member libraries in the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan, China.

  For the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service for both book and photocopy requests with overseas libraries, users are recommended to check the database, WorldCat, which covers more than 62,000,000 bibliographic records in libraries worldwide.

• Delivery time:

The average time required to obtain copies from another source is three days to two weeks. Book requests that must be sent to Hong Kong or overseas usually is three weeks to four weeks which may sometimes take considerably longer than this average.

Document Delivery Service

• Eligibility

  UM students, UM faculty members, administrative and research staff only.

• Charges

  Free of charge.

  DDS Suppliers	Privileges
  University of Pittsburgh Libraries	6 articles (month/person) *

  * Not for year-three or below students.

• Delivery time

  Delivery time ranges from one week to three weeks, depending on the availability.
